Although I got on this a little late, El Guincho’s steel drum laced “Bombay” is my favourite song of 2010. I just can’t get enough of it, and although it’s cold and dark out right now, it seems to have this pretty magical capability to transport me somewhere completely different and beautiful for all of 3 minutes and 39 seconds. So a warning to anyone who parties with me in Summer 2011 - you will hear this. A LOT.

Also the video is a stunning piece of visual goodness (but NSFW if you’re thinking of clicking Play). Directed by Nicolas Mendez of CANADA, its disjointed and disconnected style amplifies the feeling of the song itself, and takes a little step towards where it sits in my own mind.

I won’t front - I have no idea what the lyrics are, what they mean or indeed what is actually going on in the video, but it all comes together beautifully and kinda works. And the feeling I get from hearing and seeing it is what music is all about.
